A Lonnie Frisbee Dream and Evangelism

It is coming.  A great move of God is coming.  God recently spoke to me in a dream.  In the dream, I was watching Lonnie Frisbee preaching and ministering in the late 60’s.  Lonnie was walking up to people, preaching the gospel and watching the Holy Spirit move on them.  A few things stood out to me.  First, there was power in the simple gospel.  The message was…”God loves you and has a plan for your life.  Turn to Him, follow Him, receive the Holy Spirit and become a disciple.”  Second, the Holy Spirit was moving.  There was a reliance upon/agreement with the Holy Spirit.  Lonnie was communing with the Holy Spirit and following His lead.  Third, Great boldness was required.  At one point, Lonnie even ministered to a group of Satanists.

Then the dream shifted.   I became Lonnie Frisbee and was transported to the future. I began to minister as Lonnie and with the same anointing! When I first started preaching, people would not respond.  People’s hearts were hard.  But I knew, without a doubt, that if I kept consistently preaching the Gospel, people would start responding.  I knew that there was a great harvest coming and that it would be much bigger than any one church or movement.  I was sure it was coming and that God had called me, along with others, to bring it in!

It was odd to me that I became Lonnie.  I do not think God was saying that I am to be the next Lonnie Frisbee.  However, I do think I was a type.  God is starting to release anointing as He did in the Jesus People revival of the late 60″s early 70’s.  I believe there is a wave of the Holy Spirit that is starting to roll in.  I believe the wave will be a grass roots movement and God will be raising up evangelists (Lonnie types) that may not fit well in most standard churches  (The current band Sleeping Giant comes to mind).

It is now a time to start sowing seeds.  I remember something Tom Stype said in one of his evangelism workshops.  He said we need to have a “broadcast mentality.”  During Jesus’ time farmers did not plow first and then plant the seeds in nice little rows.  They scattered the seed everywhere and then plowed it in afterwards.  Tom went on to say, “in the parable of the sower, 3/4 of the seed fell on ground that did not bear fruit.”  That is what Tom meant by “broadcast mentality”- scatter seed everywhere you can, and do not worry if 3/4 of your seed does not bear fruit.

I am also reminded of a vision I had during a prayer meeting.  In my mind’s eye I saw huge sacks of seed in front of each person.  Each sack of seed was taller than each individual person and approximately four feet in diameter.  I remember thinking, “That’s not right.  The seed is not supposed to be in the sacks.  It is supposed to be scattered.”  The point of the vision was that each of us has plenty of seed, we just need to get it out of the sack and where it is supposed to be…the field.

Do not be discouraged if at first people are not as receptive as you would like.  God has promised there will be a harvest!  Galatians 6:9  says “Let us not become tired of doing good. At the right time we will gather a crop if we don’t give up.” (NIVr)

So, let’s scatter seed and rely on the Holy Spirit, and expect God to move. Lonnie moved in the power of God.  Expect power. Preach the simple Gospel, take risks and be consistent.  Let’s pray this one in, but also be answers to our prayers.  And, above all, demonstrate God’s great love!

I am thrilled to read your post. I am currently ministering to and have fellowship with a pastor in the Mather Veterans Hospital who was asked by Lonnie to help write his autobiography when he was alive.. I met Lonnie in 1986 and it was before I met David Mallard my pastor friend. I was so impressed with Lonnie’s style of teaching the gospel and showing Gods love to everyone.that he met. Your vision regarding what the Holy Spirit wants us all to do in this age is so spot on and am so happy to hear of His plan for today! I so agree that we must be bold and faint not at rejection,, trusting in His Spirit to produce the fruit. Keep it up!!!

Alan, this dream is so right on. It echoes what the Holy Spirit has been speaking to others as well as myself. For months I have been posting that a shift is coming, the glory of God is going to cover the earth- so get ready & know who you are & what authority you have! What a great dream!

Hey Alan. Those words and dream are so encouraging and powerful!! The Lonnie Frisbee metaphor is beautiful. He BROKE DOWN BARRIERS. He was out of the box of any preconceived perameters that we are suppose to follow. He loved and gave to all who would receive outside the church. I am encouraged by all of this message and especially spreading seeds everywhere. And I am encouraged that you are being moved into this kind of power and love outside the box! The love to care for the wayward and even ruined people. I agreed and say yes to that love and power too being released!! (I will have to read his biography too)

This is really exciting and encouraging. I am blessed to see the Sleeping Giant band reference. They are doing great things for the Kingdom. I look forward to seeing the Holy Spirit reveal more of this vision soon, for all of us!

Very good to read this. Wow, I envisioned that the seed was as of souls of opportunity to share the gospel and the church growing in great magnitude.
